January Activities

Venturi Health Care Group promote an active life style at Fleetwood Hall Care Home, Southport and January has been no different!

Residents dusted off their Christmas blues with a fun filled month of in house activities and day trips. At the beginning of the month residents wrapped up in their gloves and scarves for a trip to Crosby beach, they walked along the sea front and enjoyed a hot pork pie and chips for lunch. It was a cold but bright day and everyone managed to keep warm with a flask of hot tea or hot chocolate. Later in the week, a number of residents and staff visited the Slavery Museum and the Maritime Museum in Liverpool before tucking in to a lovely lunch at a café on the docks. The outing was finished off on the journey home listening to a number of classics from Abba and Elvis.

A number of residents have a passion for cooking and therefore on the 10th January the home organised a chef day were they set about making some lavish desserts for everyone to enjoy. The prepping and design stage for the strawberry and marshmallow dessert was extremely important to ensure the presentation was at its best and the end result reflects the hard work and devotion to ensuring the desserts were top of the range.

Mark Higginson, Operations Director of Venturi Health Care Group says:

“In line with our recent positive CQC inspection, Fleetwood Hall’s staff team are continuing to drive up the quality and number of activities that take place in and outside of the home. I am also looking forward to the line up of activities that will take place following the final set of OOMPH! training taking place this week, I hope we will see a number of innovative and stimulating events taking place. Thank you to the staff team at Fleetwood Hall for creating a fun, active environment.”

Fleetwood Hall Welcomes OOMPH!

Homes within Venturi Health Care Group are constantly seeking new innovative ideas to ensure residents living with us have a fulfilled, happy life where they can enjoy the environment they now live in and call it home.

Fleetwood Hall Care Home have recently teamed up with an amazing company OOMPH! who are an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the mental, physical and emotional well-being of older adults. It is hoped that our new venture with OOMPH! will support us in improving the quality of life we are able to provide to all our residents.

Dedicated and ambitious team members have been carefully selected to attend the OOMPH! training at the beginning of February 2017. This training will develop their skills as Activity Coordinators with particular emphasis on their abilities to provide a stimulating, active environment. Each month our Activity Coordinators will be supported via OOMPH to organise themed events both within the home and during day trips out. The team will be trained in providing exercise classes for residents to support them with their mobility and well-being and be given the tools required to encourage reminiscence about past times in residents lives.

Further to this, OOMPH! offer a minibus service to Cumbric Care homes and this will be utilised on a monthly basis for day trips out to places of the residents choosing.

We are really looking forward to seeing the positive impact the relationship with OOMPH! will have throughout the Venturi Health Care Homes, if you would like further information on this please feel free to contact the Registered Manager.
